Walk way in the Amachara General Hospital: 2008
The Amachara General Hospital in Umuahia, had several buildings all separated from each other with no protection from the elements, people moving from the ER to main wards were therefore exposed during transfer. In 2008 the Umuahia Family Union raised funds to build a covered walkway in the General Hospital Amachara. Now there is some protection as patients are transported into the main hospital ward areas. See pictures below.
Since then, a lot has happened to the Amachara General Hospital, it is now an Annex for the newly created Abia State Specialist Hospital and Diagnostic Centre and will now be involved in the training of medical interns. It was commissioned by the Abia State Governor.
